Artist. Teacher. Leader
Artist. Teacher. Leader
Laura Lentz is a Minneapolis-based teaching artist, director, and arts educator with a passion for helping young people fall in love with the magic of live theatre. She specializes in educational theatre, with experience as a director, vocal director, stage manager, and designer, guiding students through every stage of the creative process with care, clarity, and joy.
Before relocating to Minnesota, Laura served as the Senior Recreation Leader for the Pleasanton Youth Theatre Company in California, where she directed and music-directed youth productions, mentoring young performers from rehearsal to curtain call. She also worked with SPARC’s So Wise So Young Program, introducing Livermore second graders to the brilliance and rhythm of Shakespeare through creative, literacy-based arts education.
Laura holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts and A.A. degrees in both Music and Theatre Arts. Her performance background includes many more acting credits beyond her favorites—The Addams Family, Into the Woods, Marisol, Stage Door, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Beauty and the Beast, and Guys and Dolls—reflecting her versatility and love for the stage.
As a trained vocalist and instrumentalist, Laura has performed at regional festivals across the Bay Area and prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall. During her time at Las Positas College, she was an active member of all three campus choirs and served as section leader in each ensemble. At San José State University, Laura held a board position with the Anti-Club Theatre Club, contributing as both music director and publicist for a variety of student-led performances.
Laura is driven by the joy of watching students of all ages discover their voices and build confidence through theatre. She believes in creating inclusive, empowering spaces where young people feel seen, heard, and celebrated on and off the stage.
When she’s not directing, performing, or singing along to a cast album, Laura can be found reading, trying a new craft, or snuggling with her cat, Karma.
